First up at our September meeting,Audubon member Sage Merrill-Exton will share with us her experiences attending a camp organized by Bird Conservancy of The Rockies in July.  Sage was the recipient of a camp scholarship that is generously provided each year by Joan Ward.  Following Sage, we will hear from Audubon member Jeffrey Reichel who will share with us encounters with birds that he has found on trips to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. This area of southern Texas where two major flyways come together is described as one of the premier birding hotspots of the United States, both for resident birds and migrants passing through.  Reichel is an experienced birder and hiker and excellent photographer who lives in Pagosa Springs, but also travels to other areas looking for new and beautiful birds.  We’re looking forward to him sharing his knowledge and photographs of birds we don’t get to see here. 

The public is invited to join us at the Methodist Church on Lewis St on Wednesday,September 16. We are a welcoming group and always look forward to meeting new people, both those who live here and those passing through. While it is true that the name “Audubon” is associated with a fascination for birds, our interests extend beyond birds and promote a curiosity about diverse life forms. We urge you to join us in finding ways to make the earth a better place for wildlife and people. 

We will meet at 6 PM to socialize with appetizers and snacks before the meeting starts at 6:30. Please enter through the side door off the parking lot or let us know to open the main door for handicap entrance.  In appreciation for our meeting space, we welcome donations of non-perishable food for the church food bank.
