SUMMARY:October Big Day
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for October Big Day—10 Oct 2026! Like Global Big Day\, October Big Day is an opportunity to celebrate our shared love of birds. Last October\, 900\,000 people united for a single day of birding. Can we beat that number and make this year the first October Big Day with more than a million people enjoying birds together? \nWherever you are on 10 October\, take a few minutes to enjoy birds and share what you find. Participate from anywhere—even from home! By taking part in October Big Day you’re also celebrating Global Bird Weekend and World Migratory Bird Day. Be a part of the global team and help set new records for October birding. \n\nGo birding on 10 October: It’s that simple. You don’t need to be a bird expert or go out all day long\, even 10 minutes of birding from home counts. October Big Day runs from midnight to midnight in your local time zone. You can report what you find from anywhere in the world.\nShare what you find: Log your October Big Day observations with eBird or Merlin to make them count! Make sure to submit your observations before 13 October to be included in the official results.

SUMMARY:October Chapter Meeting/Bird Migration
DESCRIPTION:We’re planning a meeting about the Wonders of Bird Migration which will include some short films and information on resources available for you to explore. Find out how to use the amazing tools that track birds in flight after the sun goes down. How does our summer Bird Monitoring Project align with studies of migratory birds?  What can you do to help birds that travel long distances between summer breeding areas and winter homes? We’d love to hear what differences you have seen this summer in our local birds.                                                                                                                                 The public is invited to join us at the Methodist Church on Lewis St on Wednesday\, September 16. We are a welcoming group and always look forward to meeting new people\, both those who live here and those passing through.                                         We will meet at 6 PM to socialize with appetizers and snacks before the meeting starts at 6:30. Please enter through the side door off the parking lot or let us know to open the main door for handicap entrance.  In appreciation for our meeting space\, we welcome donations of non-perishable food for the church food bank. For those unable to attend in person\, a link to join the meeting on Zoom will be posted here prior to the meeting. \n
