2:30 P.M.. Meet at Watchable Wildlife Viewing Area at Navajo State Park, off CO Hwy 151 near Arboles…Wed, Dec. 1.
Parking permits will be provided.

Join us in conducting a bird census of the area along the soon to be developed Piedra Trail in Navajo State Park. Meet at the Watchable Wildlife Viewing Area off CO Hwy 151. Take US Hwy 160 west about 17 miles from Pagosa to CO Hwy 151. Turn left (south) on Hwy 151. About 18 miles down Hwy 151, look for Watchable Wildlife Viewing Area sign on the right. Turn left into parking area (past gravel piles).

Winter Shore Birding

A crisp, clear November morning was enjoyed by all attendees at the Weminuche Audubon Society’s Saturday morning birding walk yesterday around local Pagosa area lakes.

Birds identified, in addition, of course, to the resident swans, included:

American Coot
American Wigeon
Bufflehead duck
Canada Goose
Common Merganser
Mallard duck
Northern Shoveler
Pied-billed Grebe
Redhead duck
Western Grebe
